''Gianfranco is the anti-christ of traditional CRM and small thinking''

''If you have been lucky enough to see Gianfranco speak then you will know that he’s got a great way to explain his take on CRM, and this book doesn’t disappoint''

''Grown-up CRM thinking for marketers that want a stretch (and a laugh!)''

A Book About Nothing

Inspired by Jerry Seinfeld and George Costanza and a 'show about nothing', Gianfranco decided to write a book about nothing. Well not quite about nothing because after all he has been in the CRM and Data space for over 20 years both agency and client side, and wanted to share some of the useful things he has picked up on the way but perhaps in a slightly more engaging way.

About the Creator

With a first degree in Astrophysics, it seems counterintuitive to think that Gianfranco would spend the next 25 years in the world of CRM, data, personalisation and loyalty. It has, however, given him the opportunity to explain that engaging with customers in a relevant way need not be rocket science! Having spanned both agency and brand roles in his career he has had the opportunity to work with brands such as Disney, BMW, easyJet, Aesop, Avon International and BT. Now an international speaker and consultant, his books are a collection of perspectives, anecdotes and jokes from his career to date. A whistle stop tour of his thinking around CRM, customer journey mapping, data strategy and personalisation

What luck that I stumbled across this excellent read! I read the kindle version, and am planning on buying the physical copy to have on my shelf as a referral tool. Despite claiming the book to be about 'nothing', the author leaves you with an awful lot more. Funny, informative, fast-paced - makes a big change from other books in the genre and really worthwhile reading. 'In Pursuit of the Trivial' somehow makes marketing theory and tools approachable and light-hearted (whilst still getting into the serious depths of detail at crucial points) - I can see this leaving an impression on everyone from newbie marketeers to those well in the depth of their careers. Anyway - thank you for making self and career development significantly less cumbersome a task - definitely worth a read.
